Jesper Parnevik flew to Atlanta Thursday afternoon and is
expected to play in The Tour Championship, according to a spokesman in his
agent's office.
Parnevik underwent arthroscopic hip surgery on Sept. 23. He was examined by
his doctor in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Tuesday and it had been uncertain whether he
would be able to compete in the event that features the PGA TOUR's top-30
money winners.
Parnevik, a two-time winner this year who ranks No. 5 on the
money list, is scheduled to tee off at 10:32 a.m. ET with David Duval. The
Swede has played just one round of golf since the surgery.
Jim Furyk, winner of the Doral-Ryder Open earlier this year, was forced to
withdraw Tuesday morning due to a wrist injury. Furyk will receive last
place unofficial money, which is $80,000.
