Montgomerie & Garcia to play Skins Game

Colin Montgomerie and Masters champion Vijay Singh will play in the Skins Game during Thanksgiving weekend for the first time.

Also playing in the $1 million event will be defending champion Fred Couples and Sergio Garcia, who last year at age 19 became the youngest player ever to compete in the Skins Game.

The two-day event will be played Nov. 25-26 at Landmark Golf Club.

Couples won last year and set records for the most birdies (nine), most money earned on one hole ($410,000), most money won in a Skins Game (11 skins worth $635,000) and most career skins (52). He also has won a record $1,975,500 for his career in the Skins Game.

Couples will be playing in the event for the eighth time. Only Jack Nicklaus, with nine, has more Skins Game appearances.

Couples's challengers were selected by a blue ribbon panel of golf experts.

Each of the first six holes will be worth $25,000. Each of the second six holes will be worth $50,000. Holes 13 through 17 will each be worth $70,000, and the 18th hole, the Toyota Super Skin, will be worth $200,000.The foursome will play for $300,000 on Saturday and $700,000 on Sunday.
