A new fully-fledged South American tour to be run along the lines of the US, Asian and European Tours was unveiled here today.
"The Latin American golf market has long been undervalued. Our intention is to transform Latin American golf from a fragmented collection of individual events into a professionally managed tour, similar to Europe and Asia," Tour de las
Americas executive director Henrique Lavie said.
"By offering an open opportunity for professionals from everywhere in the world to come and try to qualify for our tour we are providing the best competition possible for regional players."
Because of the hugh demand from players, hoping to finally make it to the two main tours, the US and European, the $2.1m Tour de las Americas has created two qualifying schools - the first during the second week in September and the second the week before the
Tour's opening event in Venezuela.
