A bronze statue of Payne
Stewart will be erected at the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame this summer.
The 6-foot-6 inch memorial
will be the centrepiece at the end of a lighted walkway to the hall's garden.
It will depict the golf great, a Springfield native, in mid-swing.
Stewart, who died in an
aviation accident in October, was recognised as a "Missouri Sports Legend" at
a ceremony Sunday night, Feb. 6 at the hall. He joins Stan Musial and Len Dawson
as the only members of the hall to reach that status.
Stewart was a two-time
U.S. Open Champion and five-time U.S. Ryder Cup team member.
