Duval & Woods team up for World Cup

Tiger Woods has selected David Duval as his partner for the World Cup in December, putting together the players who are No. 1 and No. 3 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Woods could choose his partner because he is No. 1 in the world. The only other time he and Duval were paired in match play, Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke defeated them 1-up in a best-ball match on the first day of the 1999 Ryder Cup Matches.

Woods won the World Cup last year in Malaysia while playing with good friend Mark O'Meara, when it was a stroke-play event in which both scores counted. Woods had a 21-under 263, while O'Meara had a 282 in their five-stroke victory over Spain.

The World Cup, sponsored by EMC, is now part of the World Golf Championships, and will feature two rounds of best ball and two rounds of alternate shot.

It will be played Dec. 7-10 at Buenos Aires Golf Club in Argentina.

Duval is recovering from back problems. He withdrew in the first round of The International in August and has not completed a tournament since he and Woods were paired together in the final round of theOpen, which Woods won by eight strokes to complete the career Grand Slam.
