Old Course to host 250th British Amateur

The British Amateur Championship will be played on St. Andrews's Old Course in 2004 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club.

The British Amateur has been played 15 times at St. Andrews. The last time was 1981, when Philippe Ploujoux of France defeated American Joel Hirsch 4 and 3 in the final.

The tournament will be played May 31-June 5.
