The European Tour will establish a link with another new country
on the 2001 schedule with the announcement of the Open de Argentina,
which will be played in Buenos Aires from March 29-April 1.
The tournament will be a full-field
event, with 50 percent coming from the Association Argentina de
Golf and the other 50 percent comprised of members of the European
Tour. The event forms the second leg of a South American 'swing,'
slotting into the European Tour International schedule one week
after the Sao Paulo Brazil Open.
Argentina's positioning as a new destination
on the European Tour brings the total number of tournaments to 49
played in 25 different countries. Prize money for the Open de Argentina
will be $700,000, and the venue in Buenos Aires is expected to be
announced soon.
