Augusta give $500,000
to Woods foundation
Tiger Woods is still reaping rewards from the Masters.
Augusta National chairman Hootie Johnson announced Tuesday that the club was
donating $500,000 to the Tiger Woods Foundation, which supports community-based
programs that promote health, education and welfare of children.
``At Augusta National, we continue to support those organizations that are
equipped to make informed decisions on the use of the donations for the good of
the game,'' Johnson said. ``Tiger's commitment to serve as a role model in this
mission will have a huge influence on America's youth and the future of the game
of golf.''
Augusta National already has pledged $3 million to charity this year, including
$1 million to the First Tee program.
``I never expected this, and I am thrilled that Augusta National has come through
in support of the Tiger Woods Foundation in such a big way,'' Woods said.
Woods is a two-time winner of the Masters, including his victory this year
that made him the first player to win four straight professional majors.
