The Byron Nelson Classic has become the tenth richest tournament
on America's PGA Tour following an increase in prizemoney to $4.5
million (around £3 million).
The tournament's sponsor, the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, have
increased the purse for this year's event - at the TPC Four Seasons
at Las Colinas from May 10-13 - by $500,000.
With the winner receiving $810,000, officials expect to attracting
most of top players to the tournament.
This season, the only tournaments expected to pay out more prizemoney
are the four majors - the Masters, US Open, Open and USPGA - plus
the Players Championship, the Tour Championship and the three World
Golf Championship events.
