Byron Nelson Classic purse raised to $4.5m

The Byron Nelson Classic has become the tenth richest tournament on America's PGA Tour following an increase in prizemoney to $4.5 million (around £3 million).

The tournament's sponsor, the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, have increased the purse for this year's event - at the TPC Four Seasons at Las Colinas from May 10-13 - by $500,000.

With the winner receiving $810,000, officials expect to attracting most of top players to the tournament.
This season, the only tournaments expected to pay out more prizemoney are the four majors - the Masters, US Open, Open and USPGA - plus the Players Championship, the Tour Championship and the three World Golf Championship events.
