Ferrari problem for Darren Clarke

Fast-car fanatic Darren Clarke says he may have to take a leaf out of rock-star Elton John's book and sell one of his beloved Ferraris - because he does not have enough room for it.

Elton John organised a sale in Britain a few weeks ago to clear his bulging garage and now multi-millionaire Clarke may follow suit.

After shooting a 68 in the first round of the European Open on Thursday, Clarke, last year's European number two, revealed he now has three houses and seven cars, including three Ferraris. And one of them has to go.

"The new Ferrari has just arrived at the garage over in England. I haven't seen it yet," said Clarke, who is fast approaching the six million pounds sterling mark in winnings alone since joining the European Tour in 1991.

"Now I have three Ferraris, but I may have to offload one. The garage in England isn't big enough. I don't put many miles on them, though."

Clarke's wife Heather does not drive any of the Ferraris, but he will be selling only one of the three.

The first Ferrari he bought when he could afford it a few years ago has been earmarked for his three-year-old son Tyrone.
