Fred Couples ex-wife commits suicide

Deborah Couples, the ex-wife of 1992 Masters champion Fred Couples, committed suicide on May 26, according to a report on golfweek.com.

The website, citing a Los Angeles county coroner's report, said that Deborah Couples plummeted to her death from a 70-foot building near Los Angeles. She was 43.

The marriage of Deborah and Fred Couples ended in a messy divorce in 1993, which resulted in Deborah getting $600,000 a year in alimony. An appeals court reportedly cut that figure in half.

Couples, who is competing in the Memorial Tournament in Ohio, declined to comment.
