Faldo & Woosnam commit to Loch Lomond

Nick Faldo’s enthusiasm for Loch Lomond will see Europe’s most successful golfer return in search of his first Scottish Open title when the £2.2 million event is staged on the bonnie banks from 12-15 July, writes Mike Aitken.

The winner of six major titles has only missed one of the tournaments staged on Tom Weiskopf’s course. He finished a creditable ninth behind Ernie Els last year and enthuses over the layout as "far and away the best golf course in Britain - I would like every course in Europe to match the conditions there".

Ian Woosnam, who won the last Scottish Open at Carnoustie in 1996, has also entered. The Welshman is seeking his fourth Scottish title on a course where he was runner-up to Lee Westwood in 1998.
