The
Johnnie Walker Classic will have a new venue in January 2002 after the Western
Australian state government said it would host the tournament.
The event, sanctioned by the Australasian, Asian and European Tours, was won in
November 2000 by Tiger Woods in Bangkok.
"The
Johnnie Walker Classic was last held in Australia in 1997 and it will be Australia's
richest tournament offering a minimum of £800,000 in prize-money," Western Australia
Tourism Minister Norman Moore said.

television coverage and event publicity will give Perth a tremendous international
profile."
Nick Faldo,
Greg Norman, Ernie Els and Michael Campbell are all past winners of this event,
and are looking to do well for different reasons, Faldo to make the cut, Norman
to avoid a last round collapse,and Campbell to successfully defend his title.
