Hamerton gains first tour win

Grant Hamerton became the seventh British winner on the European Challenge Tour this year when he gained victory at the DEXIA-BIL Luxembourg Open.

"This is my first win of any kind for three years but I have been playing decent golf all year so I felt it was just a matter of time. This week it all came off and 17 under is my best four-round total."

"When I reached the 16th tee I saw that Fossy had had a great round, but I was 15 under at that point and I knew I just had to grind it out to win," added Hamerton.

"I got lucky at 16 when I holed from 35 yards for a birdie-three, which put me in the comfort zone. I secured a par four at 17, then hit a great drive down the par five 18th, six iron to the middle of the green and two-putted for birdie.

"This victory means I know that I'm capable of winning in the best company and I’ve also proved I can do so from the front. I've not been out of the top two all week."
