Zhang holds off Yates, Daly 6th

Zhang Lianwei, China's top golfer, shot a 3-under-par 68 today and won the $250,000 Macau Open by a stroke over Scotland's Simon Yates.

Zhang finished at 11-under 273, earning $40,375 for his first victory on this tour.

``I think I played so well because I felt so at home in Macau,'' he said.

Zhang had an eagle and three birdies against two bogeys. Yates, who is based in Thailand, shot a 70.

John Daly had a 69 to finish tied for sixth place at 278.

``I putted a lot better today,'' he said. ``I can go home with some confidence.''

England's Lee Westwood, who won the tournament in 1999, shot a 73 and finished at 5-over 289.

``I didn't play particularly well,'' he said. ``I didn't hole many putts.''
