A record number of European Tour members have been
invited to play in the 2001 Masters at Augusta.
Augusta National Golf Club Chairman, Hootie Johnson,
has invited 24 members of the European Tour to compete in this year's
event on 5-8 April.
A total of 95 players have so far been invited
to the Masters, with 88 expected to attend.
Those invited to compete for the first time, include
Jose Coceres, Pierre Fulke, Bob May and Eduardo Romero.
Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer,
Sandy Lyle, Jose Maria Olazabal and Ian Woosnam are among the past
Masters Champions in the field.
Club Chairman, Johnson, said: "We are very
happy with the outstanding quality of our field. We are well represented
with very talented golfers from the United States and around the
world."
