Jack Nicklaus will receive the first ESPY Lifetime Achievement Award next month.
Nicklaus, winner of a record 18 major championships in golf, will
be honored for his "greatness, longevity and class,'' said Maureen
Murray Quinn, executive director of the ESPY Awards.
Cable network ESPN has handed out the ESPYs annually since 1993.
This year's awards will be presented during a ceremony in Las
Vegas, broadcast live Feb. 12 at 9 p.m. EST on ESPN.
Nominees in 34 categories were announced Thursday.
