Janzen & Triplett withdraw from Open

Two-time U.S Open champion Lee Janzen and Kirk Triplett have withdrawn from next week's British Open at Royal Lytham.

Janzen, who has played in every British Open since 1991, has a virus. No reason was given for Triplett's decision.

Notah Begay also has pulled out because of injury. Gary Nicklaus, Jeff Sluman, Harrison Frazar and Steve Lowery withdrew from final qualifying rounds held on Sunday and Monday.

Janzen won the U.S Open in 1993 and 1998. He was disqualified from the event last month for using a towel to sweep dew away.

Triplett has played the British Open twice, missing the cut at Turnberry in 1994 and finishing 60th at St. Andrews last year.
