Scott Drummond shot a last day 66 to finish on a 17-under-par - 271 - to win
the Open des Volcans by a single shot from the overnight leader and Marc Pendaries
of France.
"I played a real loose wedge on the 18th and had to get up-and-down for
par," said the man from Bagshot. "But my putting has been solid all
week, as was the rest of my game.
"I finished with a 68 in the Great North Open at Slaley Hall last week
and that gave me a real lift coming into this tournament.
"Having missed six cuts on the Challenge Tour this season, I've turned
my game round. The plan this week was just to hit fairways and greens and it worked.
"I knew Marc could easily birdie the last - but fortunately for me his
12 footer for birdie stayed on the edge.
"One of my goals this year was to win a tournament and this has lifted
me from nowhere into the top 20 on the rankings so I have a great chance of finishing
in the top 15 at the end of the year to get my Tour card."
