South Korea's Se Ri Pak, who won the LPGA Tour's season opening
event in Orlando, pulled out of this week's $1 million Subaru Memorial
on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old former LPGA Tour Rookie of the Year has been suffering
from flu-like symptoms for more than a week and decided a week of
rest was in order.
In her outstanding 1998 rookie season, when she won four tournaments
including two majors, Pak ended the year in the hospital, suffering
from exhaustion.
Her current illness had little affect on her performance at Grand
Cypress a week ago when she closed with a record-tying 64 and won
the title by four shots over Sweden's Carin Koch and American Penny
Hammell with a 13-under-par total.
The season-opening triumph marked Pak's first win since the Tour
Players' Championship in November of 1999.
