Playing on a
course of his own design, The Palmer Private Course at PGA West,
Arnold Palmer carded his age in the fourth round of the Bob Hope
Chrysler Classic.
Palmer 71, and
winner of 70 PGA tour events, is the first player to do so in over
twenty years. His round began with a bogey on the first, but this
was followed by three birdies in succession.
However, the record, which broke par for Palmer,
the first time in over ten years, did not seem to impress him.
"So it's the first time in 22 years somebody shot
their age, that's interesting," said Palmer. "It actually should
have been a lot better."
He eventually finished the event at 18-over par and missed the
cut.
