A new date for the Ryder Cup is expected to be announced Wednesday following
a postponement for a year because of terrorist attacks.
The showcase event had been scheduled for The Belfry in England for Sept. 28-30.
Organizers on Sunday said the tournament would be played in September 2002 but
the exact dates were not set.
``We are in the process of finalizing the date and hope to make an official
announcement late afternoon tomorrow,'' European Ryder Cup director Richard Hills
said.
He said other announcements concerning the Ryder Cup might be made Wednesday.
One suggestion has been for the Ryder Cup to begin a new two-year cycle in
even numbered years.
``It's too early to determine whether that will happen,'' Hills said.
