Callaway Golf have signed up a five-time major winner to their
team of staff professionals, a certain Severiano Ballesteros.
The winner of two Masters titles and three Opens has signed a long-term
endorsement contract to use Callaway Golf clubs and balls, as well
as using a golf bag with Callaway branding.
Seve
has now left the Mizuno. Allsport.
The former European Ryder Cup captain gave the company a glowing
reference, saying: "I believe that Callaway Golf is head and
shoulders above other golf equipment in research and development,
and in the products they make."
In return, Ely Callaway, founder and CEO of Callaway Golf, said
of the 43-year-old Spaniard: "We are extremely pleased to have
such a wonderfully skilled golfer as Seve Ballesteros. He is an
admirable and truly charismatic personality."
The man who has appeared in eight Ryder Cups had his first opportunity
to test out his new clubs at the Malaysian Open on the PGA European
Tour, but unfortunately he missed the cut.
