Golfer
wins $1,000,000 for hole in one Ray Mills made $1 million Sunday
for making a one-in-a-million golf shot. A shocked and understandably elated
Mills aced a 158-yard par 3 in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl's hole-in-one contest
to win the prize. The Fiesta Bowl has staged the contest since 1984, but this
was the first time anyone has nailed a hole-in-one. Mills, a five-handicap
golfer, qualified for the event by making his first career ace this past Wednesday.
"I've been golfing for more than 40 years," Mills said. "I
hit my first hole-in-one on Wednesday and my second hole-in-one today. I was so
nervous today. I was surprised I was even able to hit the ball. I guess my timing
was pretty good, considering now I'm a millionaire." Using a 7 iron,
Mills bounced the ball on the front of the green before it rolled into the cup.
Fiesta Bowl volunteers and staffers stormed the green to celebrate the hole-in-one.
