Clinton to play in Hyundai Team Matches Former United States
President Bill Clinton will play in the pro-am portion of the Hyundai Team Matches
on Friday, Nov. 15 at The Golf Links at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort &
Spa in Dana Point. Clinton will join 96 amateurs and 24 pros for the 9
a.m. PT shotgun start. The Hyundai Team Matches features players from the PGA
Tour, Senior PGA Tour and LPGA Tour. "It's a distinct honor for Hyundai
to host former President Clinton at the Hyundai Team Matches," said Finbarr
O'Neill, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor America, which sponsors the event.
"It adds even more excitement to an already popular and successful event
that golf fans look forward to every year." Four two-person teams
representing each Tour will compete for $1.2 million in prize money during two
rounds of match play on Saturday and Sunday. Each winner will take home a brand
new 2003 Hyundai XG 350 sedan in addition to prize money. This year's Tournament
features all six of last year's winners -- Fred Couples and Mark Calcavecchia
from the PGA Tour, Allen Doyle and Dana Quigley from the Senior Tour, and Lorie
Kane and Janice Moodie from the LPGA Tour. Among others playing will be PGA champion
Rich Beem, Peter Leonard, Dottie Pepper, Grace Park, Beth Bauer, Jim Thorpe and
Peter Jacobsen.
