Garcia
ends contract with Titleist Sergio Garcia is no longer under
contract to Titleist.
Two years are left in his contract with Titleist.
Previous published reports have the No. 5 player in the world switching to TaylorMade
equipment and Maxfli balls. Garcia's agent at IMG, Clarke Jones, had no
comment on Tuesday. Ernie Els, the reigning British Open champion, reportedly
is close to finalizing a deal that would have him play Titleist equipment in 2003.
He already plays a Titleist ball but has been playing TaylorMade clubs. "I
don't think I should comment on that," said Els, when asked about the change
at the World Golf Championships-American Express Championship. "I'll leave
that to the guys in the offices. I think if I say anything now I'm bringing either
TaylorMade or Titleist into a spin so I'm not going to say anything."
