Nigel Mansell to host Senior Tour event

Former Formula One champion Nigel Mansell will have his own tournament next year.

Mansell will host a European Seniors Tour event at his own course located near Exeter in south-west England, the European Tour has announced.

A low-handicap player, Mansell will also compete in the August 22-24 tournament. A title sponsor has not been named.

Mansell has often credited the game for his success in motor sports.

His friend, two-time British Open champion Greg Norman, has often said Mansell loves golf even more than driving fast cars.

"Being a sportsman, I am a firm believer that golf is the greatest sport of all," Mansell said.

"My love affair with the game was behind my ability to win two world titles in that it provided the perfect release from the stresses of motor racing."
