Parry
named Australian Player of the Year Craig Parry has been named
Australias player of the year for 2002 by Australian Golf Digest.
While Karrie Webb had won the award for the last three years, Parrys victories
at the New Zealand Open in January and the NEC Invitational in August - both in
fields that included world No.1 Tiger Woods - made him a worthy winner. Robert
Allenby was also prominent in the award after another solid season in the United
States, though unlike in 2000 and 2001, he failed to win a single event. And
Webb, who added the British Open to her haul of majors this year, wasnt
empty-handed, being named female player of the year. And in other awards,
Nadina Taylor is the rookie of the year, Stewart Ginn the senior player of 2002,
Marcus Fraser the amateur player of the season, Nick Flanagan junior player of
the year and Danny Vera the trainee award winner.
