Dottie
Pepper out for rest of year Dottie Pepper, who has won 17 times
on the LPGA Tour, will miss the rest of this season because her left shoulder
hasn't fully healed from surgery in March. Pepper will also miss the Solheim
Cup competition between the United States and Europe, to be played Sept. 20-22
in Edina, Minn. ``My shoulder just isn't ready for the daily grind of tour
golf yet,'' said Pepper, who won the Nabisco Dinah Shore Championship in 1992
and '99. ``Withdrawing from the Solheim Cup was one of the most difficult decisions
I've had to make, but at the same time, it was also very easy because I simply
would not be able to represent my team and my country the way I feel I could.''
Pepper is currently fourth in the Solheim Cup standings. She will be replaced
on the team by the player who is 11th on the list on Sept. 1, the deadline for
qualifying. In her only start of the season, Pepper failed to make the
cut at the ShopRite Classic last month.
