PGA
Championship includes world top 100 The PGA Championship, which
annually features the strongest field among the four majors, announced a 155-man
lineup Monday that includes the top 100 in the world ranking. If none of
those players withdraw by the time the PGA Championship starts Aug. 15 at Hazeltine
National Golf Club in Minnesota, it will be the first time a major championship
has had the top 100. The PGA set a record last year with 95 out of the
top 100 players in the world. Defending champion David Toms is joined by
12 former PGA champions, including Tiger Woods, who won the previous two PGAs
and will be going for his third major of the year. The field will be 156
players, but the PGA left open one spot in case the winner of this week's Buick
Open has not already qualified. The first alternate is David Gossett.
