McNulty wins 37th South African title

Mark McNulty shot a final-round 2-under-par 70 and won the Vodacom Players Championship for his 37th South African Sunshine Tour title and first tournament win in almost two years.

The 49-year-old Zimbabwean finished with a 16-under-par 272 on the 6,219-meter (5,686-yard) Royal Cape Golf Club course to earn 317,000 rand ($34,550), of the 2 million rand purse.

American Scott Dunlap, who started the day nine strokes off the lead and in 13th place, shot an 8-under 64 to finish second with a 13-under 275, three shots back.

South Africans Hennie Otto, who had a 66, and Darren Fichardt, who shot 72, were another two strokes back in third, a shot ahead of Titch Moore (70) of South Africa and Alan McLean (71) of Scotland.

McNulty, who won the Players Championship in 1998, hadn't won a tournament since January 2001, when he took the Nashua Nedtel Cellular Masters and the South African Open.
