McNulty
wins 37th South African title Mark McNulty shot a final-round
2-under-par 70 and won the Vodacom Players Championship for his 37th South African
Sunshine Tour title and first tournament win in almost two years. The 49-year-old
Zimbabwean finished with a 16-under-par 272 on the 6,219-meter (5,686-yard) Royal
Cape Golf Club course to earn 317,000 rand ($34,550), of the 2 million rand purse.
American Scott Dunlap, who started the day nine strokes off the lead and
in 13th place, shot an 8-under 64 to finish second with a 13-under 275, three
shots back. South Africans Hennie Otto, who had a 66, and Darren Fichardt,
who shot 72, were another two strokes back in third, a shot ahead of Titch Moore
(70) of South Africa and Alan McLean (71) of Scotland. McNulty, who won
the Players Championship in 1998, hadn't won a tournament since January 2001,
when he took the Nashua Nedtel Cellular Masters and the South African Open.
