Robert Allenby sacks
long time caddie
Australian Robert Allenby has parted company with his long-time caddie Colin
Burwood.
The pair have severed ties several times in the past, only to subsequently
mend their differences and resume working together, but Allenby told AAP ahead
of this weeks NEC Invitational that he is on the look out for a new bag
man.
"Col wouldn't let me pick my own clubs," Allenby answered when asked
why he had sacked Burwood after tying for 39th at the US PGA Championship in New
York on Sunday.
Australias highest-ranked golfer at No.15 in the world, Allenbys
bag will be carried by his former accountant Tim Carnival, who is a part-time
caddie based in Cleveland and the husband of LPGA player Janice Moodie.
"He's caddied here twice for Tom Watson," Allenby added of his temporary
replacement for the tournament at the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.
Glenn Parry, the brother of defending NEC Invitational champion Craig Parry,
will replace Carnival next week at the Deutsche Bank Championship at the Tournament
Players Club of Boston in Massachusetts.
