Appleby climbs to career high 14th in rankings
Australian Stuart Appleby climbed to a career-high 14th in the world rankings after winning the Las Vegas Invitational on Sunday.
Appleby beat American Scott McCarron at the first extra hole to seal his first Tour victory since 1999 and jump six places in the list behind runaway leader Tiger Woods.
Appleby is now the highest ranked Australian golfer, ahead of Robert Allenby (18th) and Adam Scott (19th).
American John Daly won the South Korean Open to rise to No. 237, and Maarten Lafeber claimed victory in his home Dutch Open to climb to world number 108.
