BBC secure Masters TV deal till 2006

BBC Sport has renewed its contract to broadcast live coverage of the US Masters from Augusta until 2006.

The BBC, which has covered the Masters on TV since 1986, will continue to offer all the available live action across the four days of play.

Barbara Slater, the BBC's head of general sport said: "We are delighted to continue such a valued partnership.

"We are totally committed to the Masters and will continue to bring it to the widest possible audience."

The new agreement with the Augusta National Golf Club means coverage of the Masters will be available exclusively in the UK on the BBC up to and including 2006.

Augusta National make available a total of 14 hours of live coverage annually from golf's first major of the year.

Next year's tournament takes place from 8-11 April.
