Campbell breaks into world top twenty

American Chad Campbell has climbed into the world top 20 for the first time following his breakthrough win at the season-ending Tour Championship in Houston on Sunday.

The 29-year-old Texan, who won by three shots at the Champions Golf Club, moves up 12 spots to 14th in the official world rankings announced on Monday.

Campbell, the first player to make the Tour Championship his maiden PGA Tour victory, has rocketed up 151 places this year.

Fijian Vijay Singh, who ended Tiger Woods's four-year reign as the PGA Tour's leading money winner by tying for fifth on Sunday, stays at number two in the world.

Woods, however, who finished 26th in the 31-player field in Houston, extends his record run at number one to 222 consecutive weeks.

In the only changes this week to the world's top 10, 2001 U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen (seven) and American Kenny Perry (eight) leapfrog David Toms, who slips to nine.

On the Asian PGA Tour, India's Arjun Atwal won the Hero Honda Masters in New Delhi on Sunday and climbs to 218 in the world.

Atwal became the first player in Asian tour history to move past $1 million in career earnings.
