John Daly's wife caught up in drugs scandal

Despite the legal problems in which his wife is embroiled, John Daly will play in next week's PGA Championship and is expected to be at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort & Spa next month for the 84 Lumber Classic of Pennsylvania.

Sherrie Miller Daly and her parents, Alvis and Billie Miller are charged in a federal indictment alleging they were involved in a drug ring and an illegal gambling operation. The Dalys were married in 2001 and recently had their first child.

Mrs. Daly faces up faces up to 20 years in prison on each of the two counts in the indictment. Prosecutors said the golfer didn't know about his wife's alleged drug activities, which took place between 1996 and 2002.

Bud Martin, executive director of the 84 Lumber Classic and senior vice-president of SFX Corp., which represents Daly, had no comment on the situation. He did say Daly is expected to continue playing according to his schedule.
