Duval confirmed for European Open

David Duval has confirmed that he will be taking part in next month's Smurfit European Open at The K Club in county Kildare.

Duval won the 2001 Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St Annes but he has been struggling for form over the past year.

The American will use the tournament as part of his build-up to this year's Open at Royal St George's in Sandwich.

The European Open from 3/6 July takes place a fortnight before the third major championship of the season.

Duval showed signs of a return to form by shooting a 62 at the FBR Capital Open two weeks ago but failed to make the cut at the US Open.
