Record purse on offer at Kilkenny in 2004

Prize money of $7 million -- a record for Europe -- will be on offer when the WGC-American Express Championship returns to Mount Juliet in Thomastown, County Kilkenny, Ireland, in 2004.

The European Tour announced on Monday an increase of $1 million on the 2003 figure. The winner's purse is being boosted by $200,000 to $1.2 million.

This year's tournament, being held in Atlanta, Georgia, starts on Thursday. The 2004 version is returning to the Mount Juliet course, hosts in 2002 when Tiger Woods won.

Woods, who this week defends his title in Atlanta, said: "Mount Juliet was an outstanding venue with great fan support."
