Kuramoto shoots 59 on Japanese Tour

Masahiro Kuramoto set a Japanese Tour record with a 12-under-par 59 in the first round of the Acom International tournament on Thursday.

The 48-year-old made 12 birdies over the 7,046-yard, par-71 course at Ishioka Golf Club in Ibaraki, north of Tokyo.

He broke the previous mark by one stroke, set by Noboru Fujiike in 1998.
