Davis Love III moves to world's number 3

In the final event of the Florida swing on the US PGA Tour, Davis Love III fired a spectacular final round 64 to win The Players Championship at the Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass, Florida.

Love returns to the World No.3 spot for the first time since the week of the US PGA Championship on August 15th 1999 while Phil Mickelson falls out of the World Top-3 for the first time since December 31st 2000 - a total of 117 weeks. Runners-up Padraig Harrington and Jay Haas move up 2 spots to World No.8 and up 26 spots to World No.31 respectively.

Jim Furyk returns to the World Top-10 at the expense of Sergio Garcia who drops out to No.11 and Robert Allenby moves up 5 positions to World No.17. New World No.49 Kirk Triplett finished T8 and secures a Masters Invitation courtesy of his Top-50 position.

American veteran Mike Cunning ended an 8-year wait for his maiden triumph on the Asian PGA Tour with a superb five-shot victory in the US$300,000 Royal Challenge Indian Open at the Delhi Golf Club. The 1997 Asian PGA Order of Merit winner moves up 650 positions on the World Ranking to No.558.

On the Nationwide Tour in the United States, Brett Wetterich won the Chitimacha Louisiana Open at the LeTriomphe Country Club in Broussard, Louisiana. Brett improves 147 positions to World No. 365.
