Nigel Mansell misses out at Senior Q-School
Nigel Mansell's hopes of making the European Seniors golf Tour were dashed at the first stage of the qualifying school in Portugal on Friday.
The 50-year-old ex-Formula One world champion, who has his own golf course in Britain, had opened with a five-over-par 76 but a second-round 78 meant a 12-under 154 - one shot outside the qualification mark.
Mansell, world Formula One champion in 1992, quit in 1995. An accomplished golfer, he played in the Australian Open in the late 1980s as an amateur.
Another to miss out on Friday was Victor Garcia, 52, father of Spain's Sergio Garcia. Rounds of 83 and 81 blew his chances.
