Singh moves back into world top 5

Vijay Singh moved back into golf's world top five thanks to his victory in the Byron Nelson Championship while American Phil Mickelson dropped out of it for the first time in three years.

The Fijian's 13th PGA Tour victory on Sunday, following a controversial week in which he criticised women's number one Annika Sorenstam's inclusion in this week's men's Colonial Tournament, took him three places up the ratings to fourth.

Mickelson drops out of the top-five elite for the first time since he finished second to world number two Ernie Els at the 2000 International and is now sixth.

Ireland's Padraig Harrington, meanwhile, was rewarded for avoiding his 20th second place as a professional by winning the Tour Players' Championship in Gut Kaden, Germany on the European Tour. He jumped one spot to eighth.

Harrington, who leads Reuters performance data stats for lowest average putts per round (27.9), needed to hole a tricky 10-footer at the last for par before beating Denmark's Thomas Bjorn in a playoff.
