David Toms to miss start of season after surgery
Former PGA champion David Toms will miss the start of the season because he requires surgery on his wrist.
Toms will miss at least the first three weeks of the PGA Tour because of surgery scheduled for 9 December.
His agent David Parker said: "It was a very tough decision, but once they evaluated what was going on, it was the right thing to do."
Toms has pulled out of the Target World Challenge and will also miss the Mercedes Championships and Sony Open.
Parker said Toms is hopeful of returning for the Phoenix Open.
The problem is that bones in his wrist are rubbing against the joint, making it painful when he makes contact on a full swing.
