Tiger's girlfriend
taken to hospital at Bay Hill
Tiger Woods' girlfriend collapsed outside the clubhouse during a rain
delay Friday at the Bay Hill Invitational and was taken to a hospital to
be treated for dehydration.
Elin Nordegren, a Swedish model who has been dating Woods for nearly
two years, was being escorted by friends toward the parking lot when she
dropped to the ground and looked disoriented.
"She had food poisoning, and that made her dehydrated," Woods
said after he returned from Sand Lake Hospital.
The 23-year-old Nordegren was being given fluids there.
She collapsed in front of about 60 people, mostly caddies who were waiting
out the rain delay. Nick Faldo's caddie, Fanny Sunesson, and the girlfriend
of Woods' caddie helped Nordegren inside the clubhouse.
Nordegren emerged about 20 minutes later on a stretcher, and Woods accompanied
her to the hospital in the front seat of the paramedics truck.
Thunderstorms stopped play for five hours during the second round, and
Woods was not scheduled to tee off until 4:50 p.m. EST.
He was one stroke out of the lead after opening with a 2-under 70 in
an event he is trying to win for the fourth consecutive year.
"With food poisoning, and then walking 18 holes yesterday and getting
dehydrated, it was hard for her to keep anything down," Woods said.
"I told her she should just stay home today, but she's stubborn."
