Tiger signs new endoresment with Accenture

Tiger Woods is going corporate, agreeing to an endorsement deal Friday with Accenture in his first business-to-business partnership.

Financial terms were not disclosed, although the contract is believed to be three years, concurrent with Accenture's title sponsorship of the Match Play Championship.

``This is a totally different demographic,'' said Mark Steinberg, Woods' agent at IMG. ``Accenture is very vested in golf, and Tiger is going to help them reach new people.''

Woods has more than a dozen endorsements, the largest with Nike. They involve just about everything from cars (Buick) to financial services (American Express) to watches (Tag Heuer) to beverages (Asahi) to video games (EA Sports).

This is first endorsement that is directed at businesses instead of consumers. Accenture is a management consulting and technology services company which had $11.6 billion in revenues last year.

Accenture already unveiled print advertisements Friday, playing off Woods' desire to keep improving and to win. One says, ``In every field of endeavor, there are the timid, and there are tigers. Go on. Be a Tiger.''

Accenture also has shot four electronic ads with Woods, and Steinberg said the company plans to build their entire media campaign around the world's No. 1 player.

Woods was not immediately available for comment. He was two strokes out of the lead going into the second round of the American Express Championship.

Steinberg said Woods will not wear an Accenture logo on his apparel or his golf bag. Along with paying him for the endorsement, Accenture offer consulting services for the Tiger Woods Foundation and for his Web site.

Woods won the Match Play Championship at La Costa in February for the first time, which was his most dominant performance of the year.

But the relationship has been around for more than three years. Accenture was among several companies trying to get its logo on Woods' bag, an endorsement that eventually went to Buick.

``We stayed in touch with these guys,'' Steinberg said. ``Tiger and I decided about six months ago we were interested in doing another endorsement deal, and we accelerated conversations with Accenture.''
