Montgomerie & Woosnam to play in Denmark

Leading European players Colin Montgomerie and Ian Woosnam have accepted places in the field for the inaugural Nordic Open in August.

Their presence is a boost to the event, which will be the first fully-fledged European Tour event to be played in Denmark.

Montgomerie told the official European Tour website that he is delighted to be taking part in the event.

“I am looking forward to playing an official Tour event in Denmark for the first time. I have been impressed by the improvement of the Danish players over the past few years and the staging of the Nordic Open is a tribute to their successes.”

The tournament will be played at Simon’s Golf Club in Copenhagen. Ironically, Woosnam opened the course ten years ago.
