2006 Women's British Open set for Royal Lytham

The Women's British Open will return to Royal Lytham & St. Annes for the 2006 tournament.

Sweden's Annika Sorenstam won the event last season, a victory that completed her career Grand Slam.

The tournament will be played Aug. 3-6, 2006, at the course in northwest England.

``Lytham was a great success last year and we are delighted to be returning so soon after Annika's win,'' Andy Salmon, chief executive officer of the Ladies' Golf Union, announced Wednesday.

The event this year will be played July 29-Aug. 1 at the Sunningdale Golf Club in southern England.
