Mickelson & Singh confirm for Canadian Open
Masters champion Phil Mickelson, defending earnings champ Vijay Singh and Bright's Grove, Ont., native Mike Weir are among a list of PGA stars who have confirmed their intention to play in the 2004 Bell Canadian Open, the Royal Canadian Golf Association announced Monday.
Mickelson, who has finished no worse than third in each of the first three majors, returns for the 100th anniversary of the Open after a 10-year absence. His last visit to Canada resulted in a victory at the Telus Skins Game in Quebec last month.
Singh, who also took part in the skins game, is currently 2nd on the PGA Tour money list with $5,003,566 (U.S.) in earnings.
The Canadian contingent will be hightlighted by Weir, Calgary's Stephen Ames and Aurora, Ont., native David Morland IV.
The tournament goes from Sept. 8-12 at Glen Abbey Golf Club.
