Carlos Franco back in the world's top 100
Carlos Franco won the U.S. Bank Championship for the second time in his career on Sunday and in the process moved into the top 100 in the latest Official World Golf Ranking.
Franco, who earned his fourth PGA Tour win, improved 36 positions to come in at No. 91 this week.
Tiger Woods holds the top spot in the rankings for the 329th week overall, closing in on Greg Norman's record of 332 weeks. Ernie Els is closing in on the No. 1 position, however, and the South African trails by less than a point this week.
Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson, Davis Love III, Retief Goosen, Mike Weir, Padraig Harrington, Jim Furyk and Sergio Garcia maintained their positions from last week to round out the top 10.
Adam Scott stayed put at No. 11, followed by Kenny Perry, Chad Campbell, Darren Clarke, Stuart Appleby and British Open champion Todd Hamilton. Scott Verplank advanced one position to No. 17 while David Toms fell one to No. 18.
Stephen Ames remained at No. 19 and Fred Couples completed the top 20.
Brett Rumford captured the Irish Open for his second career victory on the European Tour and vaulted 113 to come in at No. 154.
