Jim Furyk out with wrist injury
U.S. Open champion Jim Furyk will not play in The Players Championship, saying Tuesday a wrist injury has not properly healed.
Furyk has not played since the Sony Open in Hawaii the second week of the season. An MRI revealed torn cartilage in his left wrist, which had been bothering him since late last year.
He had planned to play the Bay Hill Invitational, but withdrew last week.
"I'm getting back with some doctors about the wrist and how to tackle the problem," Furyk said.
Furyk, a nine-time winner on the PGA Tour, is No. 6 in the world rankings. He won his first major last year at the U.S. Open with a record-tying 272 to win by three shots at Olympia Fields.
